At ISNS, service learning is more than a school value—it is a commitment to creating meaningful change in the lives of others.
Each year, our community proudly supports Captivating International through participation in the Captivating Gala and ISNS Annual Charity Carnival. Thanks to the generosity of our students, families, faculty, and staff, ISNS continues to contribute to two impactful initiatives: the One More Year Scholarship Program and the Send a Volunteer Teacher Program.
One More Year of Opportunity
One More Year Scholarship Program
For many girls living in remote and economically challenged regions of China, continuing their education is not guaranteed. Family financial pressures often force students to consider leaving school before graduation.
Through Captivating's One More Year Scholarship Program, ISNS currently supports 14 girls, helping them remain in school and pursue their dreams. Today, the program supports 500 girls across China, and in 2024 celebrated its first graduating class, achieving an impressive 85% university admission rate.
One of the students
Zhengmo Xiaoying
shared
"There were many nights when I considered dropping out of school because I felt I was adding to the burden on my family. Whenever I had these thoughts, I would think of you and the help you've given me. This gave me the determination not to give up and the motivation to keep studying."
Stories like Xiaoying's remind us that education is about more than academics. It builds confidence, resilience, and hope for a brighter future.
Supporting Teachers,
Strengthening Communities
Send a Volunteer Teacher Program
ISNS also supports Captivating's Send a Volunteer Teacher Program, which addresses teacher shortages in remote mountain communities in Sichuan Province.
Today, 30 volunteer teachers are serving 1,133 students across five rural schools. These dedicated educators provide not only academic instruction but also mentorship, stability, and encouragement for children who often have limited access to educational resources.
Many volunteer teachers describe their experience as life-changing. While they arrive hoping to make a difference in the lives of students, they often find themselves equally inspired by the kindness, resilience, and optimism of the children they serve.
One volunteer teacher reflected:
"I thought I came to give, but I received more. The children showed me what simple joy looks like."
The impact of the ISNS community reaches far beyond our campus. Through continued support of Captivating's programs, students are staying in school, teachers are reaching remote classrooms, and communities are being empowered through education.
We are deeply grateful to every member of the ISNS community who has contributed to these efforts. Together, we are helping create opportunities, inspire hope, and open doors for young people to build brighter futures.
Thank you for making a difference.
